Oct 2nd Route: St. Phillips to Oracle (town) and back. 69.5 miles The plan was to sit and spin
on this first day of riding.... but after 10 miles my seat was so sore that I had to stand and pedal much of the way.
I made it out to the town of Oracle in about 3 hours, had an almond butter and jelly sandwich and bought a Gatorade.
By the time I finished my sandwich and got back on my bike, my legs had already stiffened-up and it was a good half-hour before
they loosened-up again. 2 miles from home I got a flat tire, if it hadn't been for that I would have made it home
by 12:45, as it happened, it delayed me 20 minutes to change the tube--which ironically was a "no flat" slime tube--I
think it was a manufacturing defect as it was on the inside of the tube near the stem. The first thing I did when I
got home was to jump in our un-heated pool (which is getting cold now that the nights are cooler), I made a recovery
drink, got out of the freezer a bag of peas and iced-down my knee and butt, and then fell asleep. Later that night I
went to work at Home Depot where I work part-time. Actual miles 71
